What are semi-cured gel strips and how can I apply them?

Semi-cured gel strips are pre-made strips of gel that are partially cured, meaning they have already been set to a certain extent but are still pliable enough to be molded and shaped. They are often used as an alternative to traditional gel extensions, which are created by applying a layer of gel over the natural nail and curing it under UV or LED light.

To apply semi-cured gel strips, you will need a few supplies:

  • Semi-cured gel strips
  • Nail file
  • Nail buffer
  • Top coat
  • UV or LED lamp

Before you start, make sure your natural nails are clean, dry, and free of any oils or moisturizers. Then, follow these steps:

  1. File and shape your natural nails as desired.
  2. Buff the surface of your nails to create a rough texture, which will help the gel strips adhere better.
  3. Take a semi-cured gel strip and remove it from the packaging. Gently press it onto your natural nail, starting at the cuticle and working your way out towards the free edge.
  4. Use a nail file to trim the gel strip to the desired length and shape.
  5. Cure it under a UV or LED lamp for the recommended amount of time (usually around 60 seconds).
  6. Apply a gel top coat over the gel strip for extra glossy finish.
  7. Repeat the process for each nail.

Once you have applied all the gel strips, you can finish off your manicure by applying a cuticle oil and moisturizing your hands. Your semi-cured gel should last for two weeks with proper care and maintenance.
